Together in Matson is based at the Redwell Community Centre right in the heart of Matson. Its local community face many challenges, but also have many talents, skills and ambition at their disposal. With support, nurturing and guidance these hidden strengths and talents can be unlocked to allow the community and individuals to blossom, achieve their aspirations and lead fulfilling healthy lives that make a positive difference to the world.
We believe that the power to develop people and the wider community lies within the community itself in Matson. We are committed to following the aspirations and ambitions of the community itself, not imposing solutions or plans upon them. We aim to create leadership and participation from within the community and support and develop the individuals that wish to achieve this. We also aim to offer young people and other community members a safe place to be and encourage them to engage in constructive activities that contribute towards developing their potential and talents.
You need a passion and commitment to help develop and achieve the aspirations and ambitions of the Matson community. This drive may be born from personal or professional links to Matson or a desire to serve this community in this way.
We are particularly looking for trustees that could help us with marketing and publicity for the events and activities that we undertake at the Redwell Centre as well as raising the profile of our overall aims and ethos. We also need trustees that can help us engage with the local community and reach current non users. Lastly we need trustees who can confidently strategize, plan and facilitate fundraising activities, ranging from community participation initiatives to grant applications. Each trustee tends to play a role in the organisation that play to their strengths and passions, so you don’t need experience in all these areas to be a valued member of our trustees board.
You’d need to attend the monthly trustee meetings at the Redwell Centre, in Matson. which would be a commitment of no more than 2 hours each month. We would them expect there to be about a four hour commitment each month to developing the strand of work you were involved in.

Why get involved?
This volunteering role offers an opportunity to be part of local community building and strengthening, developing and supporting individuals to reach their full potential whilst also helping the community as a whole address and work though their challenges. It will help you develop your professional communication, organisations and planning skills, as in an out of work setting, bringing value back to your company as well as your own life.
For any company with a client or consumer base in Gloucester it is an excellent way to be connected in another way to the communities you serve. It may give you insights that would allow you to shape products or campaigns and better help you understand your client base. Through your work with Together in Matson you may help develop your workforce of tomorrow.
Apart from attending the monthly meetings at the Redwell Centre, the rest of your volunteering can be done at a distance or at our centre, at a time that suits you, so it is very flexible.
