“Hope” exhibition launch multicultural performers

Russell Haines dynamic “Hope” exhibition celebrates immigration into Gloucester and the people that have often travelled long distances fraught with difficulties and dangers to call our city home. Hope launches at St Nicholas’ Church on Saturday 13th July (carnival day.) Throughout the day there will be a chance to view the exhibition and see multi-cultural performances of music, dance and other performing arts that celebrate the rich diversity that immigration has brought this city and how it has blended and evolved to become the rich tapestry of a uniquely Gloucester cultural offer.

We are looking for performers to contribute towards that entertainment line up.

What's involved?

We are looking for any kind of performing arts offer that can happen in St Nicholas Church, Westgate Street on Saturday 13th July. We are looking for entertainment from around 10am – 4pm, but obviously we are not expecting one performer to do six hours, but rather a slot within this time. The performances could be anything from storytelling, music, dance, to drama, circus skills, poetry or indeed anything else in between. We would like the performances to reflect the multi-cultural diversity of Gloucester, but this could include the influence of different cultures on your work.

Obviously the length of your performance will depend on its genre – you might be a musician that does a 30 – 40 minute set, or a story teller that offers two or three short story slots throughout the day. Whatever your offer and format we would be interested in hearing from you and discussing how you could fit into our timetable.

Why get involved?

Russell Haines’ exhibitions and openings attract huge numbers of people and a lot of press interest, so it is a chance to showcase your work to a huge and diverse audience at a high profile event. It’ll also be a great one for the CV to be able to say that you performed at this private view performing in the midst of stunning and thought provoking artwork.

How to get involved?

  1. Sign into your account or sign up to Volunteer Makers.
  2. Accept the challenge
  3. Await a response from the Hope Exhibition team with more information.
