Gloucester Culture Trust and Strike a Light will be sharing a stall at Gloucester’s Tall Ships Festival over Sunday 26th and Monday 27th May, to give visitors and residents a chance to find out about some of the festivals, events and activities that will be going on in Gloucester over the Summer. We need volunteers to help us hand out flyers and leaflets, draw people over to the stall and talk visitors about what Gloucester has to offer.
You don’t need to be an expert on the work of Gloucester Culture Trust or Strike or have an encyclopaedic knowledge of all the events and festivals coming up in Gloucester (There are so many to remember even we need a crib list!) We’ll have lots of leaflets and flyers that you can refer to and there will be members of staff from both organisations around who can deal with the tricky and specific questions that require detailed answers.
We are just looking for enthusiastic volunteers that are willing to approach and talk to people and hand out leaflets. Maybe you’ll have a favourite festival or events that you have attended that you’d be willing to talk about to people , or perhaps you are part of an organisations that gets involved with events and activities in Gloucester that you’d want to share with others.
The festival is open 9.30am – 6.30pm on the Sunday and Monday, but we don’t expect you to man the stall for a full day (although if you are up for that you are more than welcome). If you could just spare a few hours to lend a hand that would be very useful.
Why get involved?
If you have a favourite festival or event in Gloucester, this is a great opportunity to spread the word about it. It is a very sociable and chatty role so if you enjoy meeting new people and chatting to different people you’ll really love this role. You’ll also increase your own knowledge of what is going on in Gloucester and perhaps find an events or two that you didn’t previously know about that you want to go to.
You’ll also obviously also be able to get into the Tall Ships festival for free for the day you volunteer and so you’ll have an opportunity to see some of the many performances and ships for free and soak up the atmosphere of this exciting festival. Indeed there is always a great buzz to Tall Ships so it is a fantastic and high profile thing to say that you have been part of.
