The mission of Gloucester Cathedral is to be “in tune with heaven and in touch with daily life”. Recent changes and improvements made through Project Pilgrim have brought new opportunities for all people from all over the world, whatever their age, background or faith, to learn about, respond to and interact with the Cathedral and has brought even more people through the Cathedral doors.
We want all of our visitors to be able to enjoy information about the Cathedral and its history. We are therefore looking for people to help us translate our information leaflets into as many different languages as possible.
We have a number of information leaflets on different aspects of the Cathedral’s history, architectural features and activities. We would like these translating into as many different languages as we can so that all our visitors can enjoy and find out more about the Cathedral.
The leaflets are already available in English so you would just need to translate them into the language(s) that you are confident in. This is a very flexible volunteer challenge as you can do the translating at a time and location to suit you and just email us the translated text.
Why get involved?
This is a fantastic opportunity to share, develop and practice your translation skills and provide a real service for our visitors and make them feel extra welcome in our Cathedral. If you are looking to develop a career in this area t really does help to have a portfolio of your work that is in public use. You’ll also increase your knowledge of the Cathedral (and in some cases Gloucester’s) history and discover quirky facts that might score you that winning point at the local pub quiz.
