Together in Matson is based at the Redwell Community Centre right in the heart of Matson. Its local community face many challenges, but also have many talents, skills and ambition at their disposal. With support, nurturing and guidance these hidden strengths and talents can be unlocked to allow the community and individuals to blossom, achieve their aspirations and lead fulfilling healthy lives that make a positive difference to the world.
We believe that the power to develop people and the wider community lies within the community itself in Matson. We are committed to following the aspirations and ambitions of the community itself, not imposing solutions or plans upon them. We aim to create leadership and participation from within the community and support and develop the individuals that wish to achieve this. We also aim to offer young people and other community members a safe place to be and encourage them to engage in constructive activities that contribute towards developing their potential and talents.
The Redwell Community Centre is open Mondays – Saturdays and we’d like there to be a friendly welcome there during the daytime. You would man our reception area, welcoming people to the building and getting them to sign in and directing them to the right rooms or people if they had an appointment or had come to see someone specifically. There might be the odd cup of tea making for visitors as well. Matson residents often like to pop in for a chat and catch up on the exciting things that are happening in the local area and so providing that listening ear, with your finger on the pulse of local events and opportunities would be a core part of this role as well.
It is a very laid back role, suitable for someone with good local knowledge who is keen to chat and share news and stories with other residents.
If you would like more details without committing yourself to this challenge please email Vanessa on email@example.com
Why get involved?
This is a very sociable role. You’ll spend most of your time talking to and sharing information with other local residents. It doesn’t involve any heavy lifting or walking long distances so is ideal if you are just looking for a relaxed way to help your local community.
The Redwell centre is very much at the heart of the Matson Community and we want every resident to feel welcome and that they belong at the centre. Your welcoming role, a friendly face and listening ear is key to this.
