Treasure Seekers Course Support

Here at Treasure Seekers we believe that every single person has something to give to the community. We also believe that when someone is in a nurturing community they can grow and develop to become the best version of themselves. All of our volunteering opportunities are fully supported to help you be part of something bigger, grow and develop your skills and grow in confidence.

We need volunteers at the Treasure Seekers hub off Westgate Street to help us run our practical life skills courses. Each course tends to be held weekly over a three to eight week period in topics like household budgeting, parenting, leadership skills or health and hygiene. Some courses run during the day, while others take place on an evening. Most course sessions tend to be a few hours long.

We positively welcome all people in our community as volunteers at Treasure Seekers. If you would like an informal chat about this volunteering opportunity please email Gill@kftseekers.org.uk

What's involved?

We need volunteers to help support the trainers deliver their courses to a range of participants. Each course is slightly different and covers topics from parenting, budgeting, leadership skills to health & hygiene. Typically as a course supporter you might be helping facilitate discussions between small groups, help explain any activities, or just simply handing out worksheets or paper and pens. You might also be needed to set up the room before each course session or collate together resource materials.

If you have particular skills and knowledge in an area that is covered by a course we’d be delighted to match you up with that course. However, generally you don’t need any specialist knowledge of the area that is being taught to be an effective course helper.

Why get involved?

Volunteering to help run one of life skills courses is a great way to get practical and supported experience of training and teaching. There is definitely scope to undergo training to lead the delivery of your own courses once you have been supporting our course leaders for a while.
